Why is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer?

in his 10 full seasons belle had 373 hr's 1199 rbi's and hit right around .300 (avg of 37 hr 120 rbi per season), he was a 5 time all star and was robbed of the 1995 al mvp award...he did play below average defense and had a bad reputation of the field, but that shouldn't matter (at least in the abscence of a gambling scandal)...so whaddya think? Why is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer?I'm with you. Belle should get in, but, well, let's just say that his problems with the press came mostly from his. . .shade. He didn't please Mr. White. You are SOOOOOOOOOOO right about his being robbed of the MVP. He is the ONLY man EVER to hit 50 doubles and 50 homers in the same season.

And, actually, Matthew # # # whatever, shows WHY Albert belongs in the hall. 4 fewer season and only 200 fewer RBIs. Mm mm mm.

But, of course, the writers were not properly courted, so they will never let him in, but he BELONGS. (So, too, does Jim Rice.)Why is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer?

BA for me thanksWhy is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer? He's a cheater. Remember the corked bat incident?
Nope doesn't belong %26amp; even if he did his feud with the media will keep him out of the Hall. Why is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer?Albert (don't call me Joey) Belle, as others have posted, had a few problems. I haven't lost any sleep over him in years and doubt if I will tonight. Why is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer?
Lets do some comparisons with another player not in the HOF. You guess who is who.

16 years - .298 (ba) 2452 (hits) 382 (hr) 1451 (rbi) - Jim Rice

12 Years - .295(ba) 1726 (hits) 381 (hr) 1239 (rbi) - Al Belle

Looks alot like Jim Rice - just he played in a juiced ball/juiced player era were rice did not. He did not have the arm or glove of Rice. I am a Yankees fan - and I hate to say it, but Rice needs to get in before Belle. Funny Joey and Jim both had horrible relationships with the press as well.
Longevity means something. Brilliance for several years doesn't quite do it; you really have to have a long career in most cases to get in the Hall. In Belle's case, he certainly was headed in that direction until he was forced to retire prematurely. Yes, he was a poor fielder and yes, he didn't exactly get along the with the media, but Belle was clearly headed to Cooperstown until forced to retire.

Rice's problem has been with the way he finished his career; he got old rather quickly and didn't hit any major milestones. A great hitter for a decade -- no question. The finish left him as a borderline case. Why is albert belle not a bonafide hall of famer?
